Office Chair Design Photos and Ideas

Gaps and openings between the handle-less, white oak shelves are functional and decorative, holding plants, books, and office supplies. Small touches, such as the matching color of the chair and the lower shelves, help accent the clean white surfaces.
In the family room, cabinets open up to create an office desk. The steps on the left lead up to a mezzanine space that serves as play space for the children and a sleeping area for guests.
The copper-covered volume extends from the first floor, where it contains coat and shoe storage.

Bright yellow and purple paints were used to add some vibrancy to the daughter’s desk area, one of the ways the architects tried to honor the personality of each inhabitant's space.
Rice surfs the net at the built-in desk.
In the cheerily outfitted office, a Herman Miller Embody chair lets Shino stay comfortable on business calls that can last for hours.
Bishop is an avid record collector—Rolling Stones albums are a sought-after favorite—and he keeps his vinyl in the shelving unit ”1.1,” a reproduction of Arbel’s first completed work. The kids can often be found playing video games at the desk in the great room.
A bentwood Robin Day chair keeps the Herman Miller classics company. Through the office’s door, nestled in the bamboo grove, is an outdoor shower, fashioned after those found in San Onofre, farther south.
The poplar desk at the end of the master bedroom loft looks down on the living areas beneath the slanted, wood-clad ceiling. The compact interior of the house was inspired by ship-building techniques, with built-in furniture and storage throughout.
Two angled columns emerge from the kitchen, one of many ways Nest used geometry to divide the space without obstructing views. The architects intentionally opted for oblique angles that would provide a variety of different views depending on the angle.
A small office for Dorothee, furnished with a desk by German architect Egon Eiermann and an Eames chair, overlooks the street.
The Steelcase desk in the living room was a lucky streetside freebie discovered outside their old Oakland apartment.
An original Eames shell chair manufactured in Gardena, California, before production moved to Michigan.
The study features floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that bring the outdoors in. Space-saving custom walnut desks are accented by a Pixo Optical LED Table Lamp, an AJ table lamp, and a 1958 Eames Management Chair.

In 2015, the owner of Bo-Ex in Denmark, made the last Scimitar Chair before closing his factory in 2016. The chair is hand made at the original factory in Denmark with the original tools of the 1960's. To preserve the authenticity and high quality the leather has been shipped from Denmark to Italy where an authentic sewing machine was located to stitch the leather before shipping it back to Denmark to finalize the chair. The name of this rare chair is derived from the Turkish sword.
The Writer's Block is a piece of custom oak veneer millwork that both divides the space and acts as furniture.
The office and library share an open bio-ethanol fuel fireplace by Ecosmart Fire. The hearth is Walker Zanger Vintage Brown and stainless steel, the floors are polished concrete and the wood work is stained ash.
In 2015 the Fabricius & Kastholm desk bo-555 was manufactured for the Santa Monica Residence. Before that, it hadn't been manufactured for more than two decades.
